15027 2001-07-05 01:15:00 I have a Pentium 133/32M RAM laptop with 33K internal modem. When connected to the internet, the connection speed is 31k which is okay. But when I download (i.e. programs) the download speed is is only 2.5K - 3.2K and seems painfully slow. Is this normal and if not how do I improve it? Guest (0)
15028 2001-07-05 01:42:00 Get DSL?

Those download speeds are pretty average for Dial-up and there's not really a lot you can do about it.
They may not help much, but try checking out some of these 'speed-tweaking' apps :-)

15029 2001-07-05 06:31:00 The 33.6K modem means a maximum THEORETICAL transfer rate of 33600bps. Allowing for internet traffic, ISP lag, and server conditions this will allow probably a maximum of 2.5 - 3.2 kbs download speed. Guest (0)
