| 15027 | 2001-07-05 01:15:00 | I have a Pentium 133/32M RAM laptop with 33K internal modem. When connected to the internet, the connection speed is 31k which is okay. But when I download (i.e. programs) the download speed is is only 2.5K - 3.2K and seems painfully slow. Is this normal and if not how do I improve it? | Guest (0) | ||
| 15028 | 2001-07-05 01:42:00 | Get DSL? Those download speeds are pretty average for Dial-up and there's not really a lot you can do about it. They may not help much, but try checking out some of these 'speed-tweaking' apps :-) 'partners.yippee.net win/internet/performanceoptimizers.htm' HTH! -Mary |

| 15029 | 2001-07-05 06:31:00 | The 33.6K modem means a maximum THEORETICAL transfer rate of 33600bps. Allowing for internet traffic, ISP lag, and server conditions this will allow probably a maximum of 2.5 - 3.2 kbs download speed. | Guest (0) | ||
