| 15037 | 2001-07-05 02:06:00 | Previously had a ?My Documents? desktop item and this appear under desktop on Explorer. Now have a ?My Documents Shortcut? with the indicator arrow identifying it as a shortcut on the desktop. We created this since the original desktop item was lost during an uninstall of a progam and an accidental deletion (we think) of an ?dll? file. Subtle difference but this appears to cases some unique problems. For example:- - Microsoft Word Cannot access the ?My Documents? directory under c:\ (does not appear). We get over this by typing ?My Documents? in the ?file name? dialogue box and then getting to the individual directories where our letters etc are kept. - Winamp When trying to add a directory of files to our playlist the directory will not appear on the dialogue dropdown list. The difference between this and Word is that we cannot type in a directory as above. Therefore we cannot access the directory and therefore its files. Although this may appear to be a minor problem and we have a method of getting over this, it would be preferable to get back to the original way in which the Desktop was set up. We do not have a backup of the original desktop so is there a manual way of editing the desktop, the target directory/file or other properties to achieve the result. DENNIS FINNIGAN |

| 15038 | 2001-07-05 03:59:00 | To restore the 'My Documents' icon to the desktop in Windows 2000 and possibly other versions, go to Tools / Folder Options / View, check the box 'Show My Documents on Desktop'. | Guest (0) | ||
