| 15147 | 2001-07-07 05:06:00 | Hey.....heres my problem.....every time I try to defrag my computer it will get to about 5% done and then will say 'drive contents changed, restarting'. No-one is on the computer while this is happeing and nothing is being downloaded. Any ideas anyone pleeeeeease.....: ) | Guest (0) | ||

| 15150 | 2001-07-07 08:34:00 | Same problem myself on someone else's PC, solved it by going to Close Program (press Ctrl-Alt-Del once) then systematicly ending one program a time, starting Defrag again until it worked. Turned out some program was working away every 2-3min preventing Defrag working. |

| 15151 | 2001-07-08 03:11:00 | A program is working in the background probably a firewall or an Anti-virus progam. Many anti-virus and firewalls will not allow another program to write to the hard drive which technically is what defragging is. Close all programs on the system tray beside the clock. Then hit Ctrl+Alt+Delete ONCE only. In the popup window 'End Task' every program except Systray and Explorer. Check at the end that all the programs have in fact closed. Some need to be end tasked twice. When only Systray and Explorer are left, close the window by hitting 'Cancel' and run defrag. Should run with no problem. |

| 15152 | 2001-07-08 07:22:00 | Had the same problem myself. In addition to closing down programs running in the background, you may also want to make sure that your screen saver is turned off. When this kicks in, it can also cause interruptions when trying to defrag. | Guest (0) | ||
