| 15133 | 2001-07-06 21:20:00 | Hi everyone. Can anyone help me with this please. My daughter has just bought a 'new' mini tower to replace a dead one...the guy said it had no modem which was ok as she has an external 33.6 from her last system. However we cannot windows to detect it. What we have found out is that it has indeed got a 14k internal and even when I isntall the 33 one manually it keeps going back to the internal. I even tried deleting the old one...help??? | Guest (0) | ||

Something else to try is check to see what Com port the 14.4 is on (control panel/modems/properties), then install the 33.6 modem on another Com port. this would mean you have 2 modems installed but you can select which one you want to use (33.6) in the dialer in Dialup Networking (right click the dialer/properties). It should also give you less problems. | Guest (0) | ||

Otherwise it will always look for that 14.4 when you try to dial up. |
