| 15107 | 2001-07-06 02:31:00 | I cannot defrag,scandisk or install some programmes as it says a program is writing to windows.Have disabled screensaver and all the icons in the tray but to no avail.Running Windows 98.How do I find which programme is doing it.Thanks,Max. | Guest (0) | ||
| 15108 | 2001-07-06 04:10:00 | go cntrl-alt-del and see if theres anything there, ideally you just want explorer and systray in there if your having probs, check to see if your anti-virus software is set to autoscan and disable that and fastfind if you have it. you could also boot to safemode and run scandisk/defrag. |

MS Findfast that comes with Office is bad for this, in fact it can be safely disabled without much problem. Also go to a command prompt and run the dos version of scandisk, is there still a dos defrag? |
