15334 2001-07-10 12:04:00 Hi, I have a MS-6340M mainboard and it works find until recently when I switched from the onboard display card to a GeForce 2 MX (MS-Starforce818) card. I also updated the latest BIOS version to install the card (otherwise the board won't detect anything in the AGP slot).

But the system got very unstable and 'freeze' anytime it wants without warning. (some times every 15 min.... some times every hour or 2)

eg. in the middle of diablo 2 game or counter strike game or surfing the web or typing emails, etc

When I mean freeze I really mean freeze, everything stop responding, num lock/caps lock don't work, ctrl-alt-del don't work, etc. The only thing to do is to press the reset button.

I have updated to the latest display cards drivers, tweaked alot of settings in bios (mainly display related), got the latest McFee virus scanner, staying off the net, disable many thing at windows startup and system tray (only got sound and internet icon right now).... but none worked, the comp still 'freeze' very often!

Any idea what the problem is? or even better, how to fix it?
Anyone here got similar problem?

Here's my system: MS-6340M mainboard, GeForce 2 MX (MS-Starforce818) display card, 192MB PC-100 RAM, Duron 850Mhz CPU, Leadtek Winfast 4X sound card, 4.3GB HDD, Windows 98

15335 2001-07-10 23:15:00 was the problem occuring with the original drivers that came with the card? tried updating directX? also is the onboard video fully disabled?
otherwise might be hardware conflict or something.
