| 15276 | 2001-07-09 22:23:00 | Hello, I'm running windows 98/OS, PC is HP Pavilion 6635 Celron 53Mhz.I've installed 64mb RAM as an update for the first time. The PC booted up o.k.,I can get around in windows o.k. The problem is trying to connect to the internet, the dial-up connection box reports as follows:Could not detect modem etc.,and I don't hear dial tone. After doing the modem troubleshoot, I still get the same message.Obviously I'm asking this question for someone else. Please help. Thank you, C. Giguere. |

| 15277 | 2001-07-09 22:39:00 | Hello Christine Adding more Ram should in no way have any effect on your Modem operation. However check that you have remembered to plug the Modem lead back in and it is in the right plug socket, most modems have two, one for a phone and the other ' line in ' for the modem. Forgive me if I seem to be stating some pretty obvious steps here, but it never ceases to amaze me the amount of people who do manage to go wrong at the above mentioned steps. Alan |
