15225 2001-07-08 08:17:00 I own a Mustek MRW 8432, and I have been using it for around 4 months, the only problem I have with it is that it only writes at 2 spd!!!

I have tried using different software (nero and blindwrite) and also different brands of CD...it still doesn't work. I tried to chose the write spd but it always say change of write spd due to media. Is my drive faulty?? Or is there some settings I need to change?

I think there was one time when it wrote at 4 spd. I have an athlon 1 Ghz with 256 mb ram 40 gb hdd..
any help would be appreciated.

Most cheap blank CD-RW have a maximum of 2 or 4 times write speed, regardless of your drives capabilies.
Try a more expensive 10 or 12 times blank CD-RW.

15228 2001-07-09 09:03:00 If you are using cheap CD's or cheap rewriteables that might be your problem. If you are using single use CD's try something like Verbatim or Sony, maybe a little more to buy but you might also be able to write faster. In Nero, I use v4091, I assume newer versions are similair, Nero will detect the max speed of the CD and you will have the choice of that speed or something slower Guest (0)
