For some while every time I booted up, Norton Utilities advised me that my subscription was out of date [it wasn't] followed immediately by a warning that Norton crash guard had intercepted a crash and the system froze up. Eventually I managed to get through Symantec's almost impenetrable electronic gatekeepers and at the third try I found an adviser who seemed to know something about Symantec software. He advised me that 'crashguard' was giving much trouble and that I should delete it. I did [via 'safe mode' which was the only way I could boot without an immediate crash.] Since then I have had no troubles. It might be helpful if PCWorld posted a warning about Crashguard. |
