15420 2001-07-12 08:45:00 I am with Zfree, and before they changed their dial in number my modem used to connect anywhere from 39000 bps up to 49667 bps. Now with their new number I always connect at 50667 bps. I have found that my internet connection performs best at around 45000 bps. Is there anyway to change in Windows the maximum speed that a modem will connect at besides the preset values? It goes from 38400-57600 with no intermediate value. My OS is Win 98. Guest (0)
15421 2001-07-12 12:18:00 To limit the connect speed, goto the properties for the zfree connection, click configure, goto connection tab, click advanced, and add the following line to the extra settings feild:

AT +MS=,,,,minSpeed,maxSpeed

or if that doesn't work:

AT +MS=V90,1,75,33600,minSpeed,maxSpeed

where minSpeed is the slowest speed you want and maxSpeed is the max speed you want. the range is 75 - 56000.

eg:

AT +MS=V90,1,75,33600,40000,45000

will limit you connect speed to between 40000 and 45000 bps.

note that if the modem cant get the speed you want it will hang up.
