| 15538 | 2001-07-15 01:41:00 | Can some please tell me if it is possible to dd some files from my Windows partition to my /home linux directory. I am dual booting. If it is possible please display what the command could possibly look like. Cheers |

Firstly, create a mount point (you only need to do this once): cd /mnt mkdir windows Now, mount the drive (note that you may need to be root to do this, unless you change your /etc/fstab file): mount -tvfat /dev/hda1 /mnt/windows Note that the 'hda1' assumes that your Windows partition is the first partition on the disk. If this is not the case, then change the '1' to something else. Now, if you browse through the /mnt/windows directory, you will see all of your Windows files. For safety's sake, you might want to unmount the partition when you're finished: umount /dev/hda1 |
