| 15651 | 2001-07-17 01:52:00 | I have an HP deskjet 670c printer, and about three months ago I ran out of black ink. In the interim I have misplaced the color catridge as well. I recently purchased a black cartridge and upon installing the new one, the printer told me the heads needed to be aligned. I tried to do this but it will not work without a color cartridge which I do not have. I never use the color anyway, and any attempt to print without aligning the heads results in a very messy and useless print job. Is there any way I can work around this lack of cartridge so I do not have to purchase a $95 cartridge that I will not use enough to make it worthwhile. |

Right-click on your printer, then click on 'Properties'. Among the settings should be something that says 'print in greyscale'or simliar. I had the same problem on an HP deskjet and by taking the 'tick'off that setting it should go only using your black cartridge. |

Like yourself I rarely use the colour and would probably have discarded the current cartridge also when it was empty. Pleased to see some kind soul has offered to send you an empty one as a workaround. Cheers !!! e_ |
