15783 2001-07-19 06:23:00 I have a weird problem with my setup (Celeron 500, Win98SE, 128Mb). It seems to be running fine but after every reboot or when I first turn it on there are two strange .tmp files left in the Windows folder (yes, the Windows folder, not windows\temp). Two example filenames: fffe071d_{47C1F6E0-7BC7-11D5-A12A-BB2B660B603F}.tmp and fffe071d_{47C1F6E1-7BC7-11D5-A12A-BB2B660B603F}.tmp. If I don't delete them manually they will accumulate very quickly. Any help gratefully received!
Rod.

Has it allways done this or just after installing software recentally?

15785 2001-07-20 05:44:00 Hi Ken,
No, its only been doing this since about June 30th. I can't pin it down to any particular installation. It doesn't create the files if I start in Windows Safe Mode, but it does still create the files if I disable everything I can in the System Config Utility which makes me think it is driver related somehow. The only suspicious entries in bootlog.txt are:

[000E1B6D] LoadFailed = ndis2sup.vxd
[000E1BBE] Dynamic load failed : [000E1BBE] File not found
[000E1C87] INITCOMPLETEFAILED = SDVXD

Thanks for your help.

15786 2001-07-20 15:57:00 This might help track down the offending app:

Search for {47C1F6E0-7BC7-11D5-A12A-BB2B660B603F} etc in the registry, especially under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\

It should contain a recognisable name or file name.
I have used this to track down similar problems in the past.
