15775 2001-07-19 06:09:00 After reinstalling windows 98 my 10GB hardrive has only 900 MB of free space left. I'm sure windows 98 doesn't take up that much space. I reinstalled OS because i was getting alot of errors with hard disk and thought this might solve the problem but to no avail. There are no other programs other than the default stuff that comes with win 98.

Any help would be appreciated.

15776 2001-07-19 19:10:00 buzz run Windows scan disk. How much hard disk is shown as 'Bad sectors'.
It sounds to me like you need a new Hdd.

15777 2001-07-20 00:29:00 A typical install of Win98 takes about 400 Meg. Not 9.1 Gig!!
Deffintally run ScanDisk.
Click Start-> Programs-> Accessories-> System Tools-> ScanDisk.

Put a couple of dollars aside for a new HD..

You probably haven't converted your hard drive to FAT32,
you will need to do this as FAT doesnt support hard drives bigger than 1.2 gig (approx, I think).
So your 10 gig drive will probably be detected as a 1.2 gig.
If you convert it to FAT32, using FAT32 Convertor in windows (under programs, accessories, system tools, I think), your hard drive should be recognised as a 10 gig.
Just make sure you backup any data you might have put back on the drive that is of importance.
