2012-05-19 11:53:00 | Try PC Wizard (www.cpuid.com), there are plenty of others though, is there anything in particular you are wanting to find out? | Iantech (16386) | |
2012-05-19 12:03:00 | Thank you. Next question. Our current computer uses PC 2700 ram. I have 1 GB of PC 2100. Is the )C 2100 compatible with the PC 2700? Thanks, again

2012-05-19 12:07:00 | It should work, just be a bit slower, PC 2100 is DDR266 and PC2700 is DDR333. | Iantech (16386) | |
2012-05-19 12:09:00 | Oh wait, you're not using these together are you? hmm, should still work, it will make the DDR333 run at DDR266 speed though if you are. Depends a lot on the motherboard if it supports mixed mode ram. | Iantech (16386) | |
2012-05-19 13:00:00 | I think you are mistaken. It's the Motherboard that determins the speed not the memory board so if the MB requires DDR333 (fast ram) and you fit DDR266 (slow ram) it is likely to be unreliable and will probably fail. If the MB requires DDR266 (slow ram) and you fit DDR333 (fast ram) it will run OK but slower. The speed classification on ram is an indication of the speed at which it can run reliabley so its OK to fit fast ram into a slow MB but not slow ram in a fast MB. HTH

2012-05-19 17:40:00 | You will normally find if a motherboard supports DDR333 or DDR400, it will also support lower speeds of the same socket. If you put DDR266 in a board that supports 266/333/400 it will run at the speed of the ram (266MHz). The question I think that is being asked is will it take a DDR333 stick and a DDR266 stick together and that depends on the motherboard if it will run mixed mode ran, if it will, the faster stick will run at the slower sticks speed, one stick will not run at 266 and the other at 333 and the 266 stick will not run at 333, both will run at the lowest sticks speed. | Iantech (16386) | |
2012-05-19 22:07:00 | Thanks for the info. What I really need is a computer person to help me try and fix our other computer. I had a guy, but he's going out of repairs, so I'm a bit stuck :( Ian

2012-05-19 22:17:00 | Will the other computer boot into windows? Or is it dead? What exactly, is wrong with it? If it can boot into windows, I can get into it with teamviewer. And you can tell me, what I can do to fix it | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
