1253371 2012-01-10 06:07:00 In small amounts, pretty damn small amounts.

In fact, for the amount I want (1/4" or 6mm and 5/8" or 15mm diameters in about 70mm long or less) you could probably just as well say 'offcuts'

so, what kind of place is likely to give away offcuts of brass rods? :p

Or sells short lengths (or even not so short!) for a good price...

1253373 2012-01-10 06:30:00 In Nelson I regularly buy 1 metre lengths of brass rod in sizes from 1/8" to 1/2". I turn a variety of door, drawer and box knobs from this stuff. Mico Plumbing Supplies. Used to be known as Mico-Wakefield. Probably got branches elsewhere.... Scouse (83)

I found them online but couldn't find prices, what are they like?

Scrap metal dealer for most metals.

Hmm, sounds not a bad idea either, never thought of that... :o

1253377 2012-01-10 21:07:00 Find an engineering company that does CNC turning work ... they start off with long lengths and have to discard the last 50 - 100mm depending on what they're making. Use the yellow pages and let your fingers do the walking ! SP8's (9836)

Rods, not tubes.
