| 1253896 | 2012-01-16 02:32:00 | People in lower socio-economic groups commit more crime and Maori are over-represented in lower socio-economic groups. I'm in a lower socio-economic group. I'm not committing crimes. Actually I'd say it's the ones in gangs, or are associated with the gangs in some way, related or hanging around them that get this attitude. And that matches the statistics. Matches what I know too, like the young guy at Unitec a while back with the knife - related to gang members. |

Therefore the over representation in the crime stats is merely a reflection of the general economic situation of Maori in general. There is no evidence that that there is a genetic link or cultural link to crime - and indeed it is the Maori in the city who have moved away from their culture who are more likely to be involved in offending. In that regard there is nothing Maori leadership can do directly unless they are in Government. When you get statements like "imagine if they were taught molestation is right", you have a few clues there that the writer is racist rather than genuinely interested in issues relating to the causes and solutions of crime. I seriously believe that you are a few amps short of a full charge :) :) :) |

Child abuse was an issue not limited to Wanganui, Laws said, but the city's large low socio-economic community did it no favour - Michael Laws. I think you Laws fanboys had better write to him and tell him it has nothing to do with the "low socio-economic" status of parts of the Wanganui community. Sounds like he is in denial to me, fancy daring to suggest this nonsense. |

They're all pretty vile but MM would think raping and smashing a 5 yr old makes him worthy. Once Were Warriors - yeah right, so why don't they try that on um, say, the guy in the takeaway bar: www.nzherald.co.nz No, 5 yr olds........naturally he'll hang out with his MM mates while in jail for his brief time, then be a hero and resume gang life when he's out. |

| 1253902 | 2012-01-22 01:16:00 | It makes little difference which gang of scum it is, they are all much the same. Yet again we have a situation where this lifestyle of choice is handed down through the generations as not only acceptable but a way of earning respect, sure they are all broke, that too is part of their lifestle , if you have the mentality to prey upon your community for kicks then you won't ever have a job and income. And yet again, Some people would seek to blame everyone else in socity rather then the perpetrator for creating a socity that fosters this behaviour, apparently health care, education, and billions of dollars of undserved walfare and suport just isn't enough, we have to pay with everything that others seek to take or destroy, and then we are meant to apologise to them after the fact for creating a peaceful propsus country that seeks to take care of them should they need it. |

Man that is so on the dot, well done, again. |
