New Zealand is a much safer country than the United States. The reality is there are uncountable contributing factors that differ from country to country, We are not the USA, and bringing in the death penalty (excellent idea by the way) wouldn't make us anything like them. The death penalty was introduced as a control for a problem, and nothing you have presented has discounted that control from working. From what I last read violent crime in the USA has been declining for nearly 25 years straight, and right at the peak period they were also in the grip of a massive crack epidemic. Would I asign that success to the death penalty?...nope, But its good to see some scum get what they deserve. So, lets shoot some drug dealers, Miami Vice style. |

It was unsettling to read the following in this mornings Herald on-line: "The parents of a 5-year-old European girl who was raped at a Turangi campground are horrified by a judge's comments that her alleged attacker looked "very smart". The parents urged Judge Jocelyn Munro to consider their daughter's feelings after the judge also invited the alleged attacker's mother to read out a prayer by her 16-year-old son that asked God to make him a man." I hope the learned judge gets it right when she passes sentence. Failure to do so may lead to renewed calls for feral justice and lynching. But this time against the judge. :angry |

Why the hell did she comment on his appearance? She obviously isn't like Judge Judy. |
