| 1276374 | 2012-05-20 00:31:00 | My daughter loaned her USB hard drive (1GB Western Digital) to a mate who tried to play it through his Freeview device. The drive now shows all files and folders in some garbled font eg ñÿ¸Æ££ı:.ùöQ and sÌ▓s|ÚD.┼ı▓ . Nothing is accessible except the only folder still readable named Recorded TV, so I'm picking that the device reformatted the drive, although she says she was able to get media player to still play a couple of the MP3 tracks. Is there any hope of undoing this or is this a lost cause? Any ideas appreciated. Regards andy |

I think some of the Freeview and media boxes use Linux as an operating system, you could try using a live Linux cd, to see if you can recover anything. www.knopper.net If not, this maybe www.easeus.com |

| 1276377 | 2012-05-20 02:19:00 | After reading a bit further down the Easeus page, I see it only recovers 1GB of data in the free version, not much help, sorry :crying:rolleyes: | feersumendjinn (64) | ||
| 1276378 | 2012-05-20 22:21:00 | You might get some data back, but any any corrupt files will be lost. Data recovery software wont help much for actual corruption (still worth a try) . |
