can anyone tell me what systray actully does?? the reason i ask is that ive always thought u needed explorer and systray running for comp/programs to work. however at the moment i have taken systray out of startup and every thing seems to be working perfectly. win98se. |

Systray displays and enables you to interact with programmes that live there. Icons next to your clock in the lower right corner of your screen, eg firewalls and virus scanners and chat programmes but more usefully sndvol32 that little vellow speaker for your sound settings. |

i dont require the volume control on the taskbar so ive kept systray off. so far no problems. clock, firewall and anti virus are working fine on the bar. the reason its off is that a few uses have commented on a few problems with zonealarm and systray.
funny how removing something that microsoft has always said not to remove fixes a problem;-) |
