| 16345 | 2001-07-31 22:00:00 | When booting, Win 95, the procedure halts and advises that a file referred to in the system.ini file is damaged. The file identified is win\system\VMM32\NTKERN.VXD There is not a copy of this on the Win 95 disk and I can't even find the reference to this file in the system.ini file to rem it out. I can't run scandisk because I get the message that the disk is not formatted or a disk utility has locked it. I can't identify any disk utility running and the drive is obviously formatted as I'm working to and from it as my boot drive. |

| 16346 | 2001-08-01 00:20:00 | Hi Steve, the ntkern.vxd problem is a common in Win 95, especially if you had a pre-installed version, and a different version CD which you have used, alternatively it can occur if you load the USB supplement. One cure is to uninstall the USB supplement, but to see a full discussion of the problem have a look at this MS Knowledge Base: support.microsoft.com Good luck. |
