| 16243 | 2001-07-30 01:47:00 | I kept getting fatal exception errors and invalid page fault messages , and as my comp was due for a major cleanout anyway I decided to reformat.Problem is I'm still getting all these messages.I am getting a vast array of error messages but the most common is:a fatal exception OE has occurred at 0028:C0005338 in VxD VMM (01) + 00004338. Bootlog shows SDVXD,MTRR,VGARTD and ndis2sup.vxd as failed. I have searched and searched MS knowledge base to no avail. Can anyone help me with this please. Thanks. | Guest (0) | ||

| 16245 | 2001-07-30 05:00:00 | hi Nadine, I would guess either a hardware conflict, or a driver problem may be the cause here, especially if you formatted the harddrive without it producing any errors. If you know which chipset is on your motherboard, I suggest you go to their website and check to see if you need to install motherboard drivers. I know the via drivers that come with win98 need updating, and win95 doesn't include them at all. If you can give more specifics about your system I can tell you which sites to visit for driver support. As for conflicts, I would approach that one only after updating all drivers first. |

| 16246 | 2001-07-30 21:37:00 | Thanks for replying.I seem to have solved the problem..I read somewhere that you should lable the drive, which I hadn't done during formatting (I always thought it didn't matter), so I did that and it seems to have fixed the problem, i have no idea why though......Now if I can just get the sattelite going again I'll be happy lol. | Guest (0) | ||
| 16247 | 2001-07-31 11:33:00 | The error messages your getting sound familiar. I have har similar problems two or three times. I managed to fix them each time by uninstalling recent software additions, or reversing some change I had made to settings; such as when I enabled ECC support for level two cash. Undoing that eliminated a lot of 'crashes.' Vince |
