16415 2001-08-03 10:38:00 Here are a couple of free-ware programs that are quite a bit better than the Windows Add-Remove Programs utility. They also remove broken links and tidy up the Registry for partially uninstalled programs.

1. Smart Uninstaller. You can get it from:
www.simtel.net
The file to download is sun1_0.zip

2.Add-Remove Pro. ver 2.04 from:
http://superwin.com

On balance I think Smart Uninstaller could be the better program.

16416 2001-08-05 02:14:00 I've been using Ashampoo 2000 by:

http://www.ashampoo.com/

for some time. 100% safe and thorough - but you have to make sure; after having used its 'save current configuration' function and installed your new software, that you don't make any further changes (such as moving files/folders, deleting etc)until you have created a new logfile in Ashampoo.

I've always thought that the MS Add/Remove Programme thingie was very sub standard, so I went to the Simtel site and attempted to download their suni -o . zip file . . . . a little box popped up telling me that my security settings don't alow me to download the file . . . . . I've never come across that before . . any clues , if ya happen to notice that there's been a reply to your tip . I can't figure it out at all . . . I'm running Zone Alarm with everything on high security but changed that to medium and atempted the download again . . . nada . . . . I'v ebeen into my Internet settings under the security heading and set it to custom . . . and had everything either enabled or prompt . . . and still nada . . . . and ideas ???
