16595 2001-08-06 23:18:00 I have a HP scanjet 4P which has a SCSI interface at work. My machine at home has a SCSI card for my CDR.

However the connection on my home machine is not the same as the cable on the scanner.

Is there more than one type of connection and are they compatible and where do you get an adapter/converter?

Thanks

they are all compatible. Dick smith may sell the right cable, but their selection is often limited.

16597 2001-08-10 09:19:00 Hi Alastair,

We also have a Scanjet 4P and even though we still have the original HP interface card and cable, we now use a different cable and run it off a Tekram SCSI card which drives the hard disk.

Chances are that the back end of the SCSI card you have at home will have either a 68 pin UltraWide connector, its baby brother, or a 25 pin DB connector.
Most of the decent computer shops have the various adapting cables and 'gender changers or can get them in for you. If you still don't have any joy, email me and I might be able to help.

All the cables are compatible and you just need one with the correct plugs at each end.
