16685 2001-08-08 04:48:00 I have recently installed office xp on my laptop doing the typical install, because of insufficient disc space. I have now had 20gig added and wish to do a full install. However the program wants to instal on the c drive where space is still limited and not the d drive where 16gig is ready and waiting. How can I get the program to instal where the space is available? 16686 2001-08-09 05:57:00 I havn't installed XP myself as I would loose more than I would gain, but back to your question.
First I will assume you have uninstalled the first install.
When you are installing try choosing the custom option. Many installers like to hide the option of where they instal to.
It is very unlikley that MS hard coded the install location.
As a side note MS tends to test their programs with the default settings, so you may run into problems later on. Although they are usually only minor.

Thanks for your reponse. The old version of Office was not removed as the XP disc was an upgrade and therefore overwrote or deleted what wasn't required. When installing the upgrade, Setup is chosen and then the choice 'Add Remove Features' is available. The Custom option does not present itself.
Can the disc partion be moved to increase C drive capacity and thereby reduce the D drive as an alternative?
