16661 2001-08-07 22:43:00 We had a power cut yesterday, when the puter was on, and now we have this error message. It is a Hewlitt Packard Pavillion puter. 'the following file is missing or corrupted:C:\CDROM\Oakcdrom.sys. There is an error in your config sys file on line 19. Device driver not found 'IDECDOOO' No valid cdrom device'.
The cd rom is still working, and under the device manager, it says there is no problems, and the device is working properly. HELP.

16662 2001-08-08 09:16:00 The file that it is refering to is the DOS cd driver, which you probably don't need.

TO remove the error message:
run 'Sysedit' from the run dialog.
Goto the Config.sys file, and place a ';' at the start of the line refering to the file, it will probably start with DEVICE=.

The ; will disable the line with out removing it incase you restore the file.

16663 2001-08-09 10:12:00 Thanks I will try that. I went and got the file of her sisters puter, put it in the windows sys file, but didn't know how to make it read it. So I will definately try what you suggested. Guest (0)
