16849 2001-08-12 00:23:00 What OS are you going to put on the 200Meg HD?
Hope its not Win98, you need at least 350 Meg, and thats still not enough room for the swap file.

There should be a diagram of the jumper posititons on the top of the hard drive's. Generally removing them will make the drive a slave, thats not allways the case tho.

Is the 200Meg a master at the moment? If so try taking the jumper off the 8.3Gig and plug it on the same IDE ribbon cable, dependng on the age of you PC you might have to go into the BIOS (press DEL when prompted after booting) and auto-detect HDD.
When they are both detected save and exit.

Hope thats some help.

16850 2001-08-12 00:47:00 Being blunt, I would dump that 200Mb drive, it is small, will be oh so slow, probably mode 0, and must be near the end of its useful life. Drives are so cheap now, get a bigger faster one.

Alternatively to dumping, if you buy a hard drive caddy and you have a spare bay, then the 200 Mb could be set up as a slave and used for file back-up/ storage.

16851 2001-08-12 01:24:00 LOL, I was going to be blunt too and say use it for a paper weight. Useing it as a back up drive is a good idea Terry.
I'd put a 2Gig partition on the 8.3Gig and have the OS on that, have all you games, music etc etc on the other partition and if something goes wrong you can just format the 2Gig without loseing other files.
It really is too small to have as a Master with your OS on it Corey.
