| 17069 | 2001-08-16 03:20:00 | Help. I installed the free trial of BlackICE Defender from the June PC World CD. Several days ago I decided to buy the software. I had no problems with the download but are now unable to install it. When I try to execute BIDsetup.EXE, an error message appears 'BlackICE could not locate necessary registry information'. I downloaded the software again but still no luck. Has the free trial software (I can't uninstall it)somehow made it impossible for me to install the software I downloaded several days ago. I have downloaded installation directions but can't get past number 1. Any ideas would be appreciated. I have Windows ME. Rgds Anna |

| 17072 | 2001-08-16 05:39:00 | Just to re-inforce what you say tweak'e, have a look at what THE expert Steve Gibson says about BlackIce at: grc.com You will need to scroll down to find the reference, or use Edit-find on this page-blackice to get to it quickly. Definetly cut your losses Anna and use ZoneAlarm. Cheers |
