| 17009 | 2001-08-15 04:13:00 | Hi Fred,If you got to Hp site there is an updated usb driver for your writer that is compatible with ME,Problem is that the adaptec software that came with your writer is probably not compatible with ME. ME requires Direct cd version 3.01d or later & easy cd creator version 4.02d or later. I know how you must feel as i have had similar problem with HP printer ,HP scanner & HP writer software not working on an HP computer that came preinstalled with ME. At least by the sound of it you have the choice of going back to 98. cheers steve |

| 17010 | 2001-08-16 05:10:00 | You might get more respones if you split your questions up to seperate posts. Anyway, If I understand your email problem correctly, you want to be able to click on links in your email and have them open in your browser. To set which browser opens you need to set the browser to set itself to be default. For internet exploiter, goto control panel, internet, programs tab, and check '...default browser'. For Opera, goto file, preferences, default browser. For Netscape, it should be on by default, and is a bit difficult to trun on again. Then startup the browser you use and click YES when it asks if you wan to make it your default browser. I can't help you with your cdwriter/printer. Regarding winME, I dont think it is so much todo with forcing upgrades I think for home users thats for the windows after XP where they move to subscriptions. Its just that winME was used to fill in the gap while they delayed XP. But you have to remember the same is true for 98se, 98, 95c, 95b, 95 and 3.1 . The reason windows 9x is so crap is because it is just Windows 4 sitting ontop of MS-DOS 7. Their goal with the consumer versions of windows is to it just good enough to make switching to a better platform not worth it for the average user. Sorry about the rant but windows is playing up again, *sigh*. |
