| 16959 | 2001-08-14 05:03:00 | My Intel 56k V.90 modem does everything but pick up incoming calls. Using programs like Bitware and PC games(multiplayer), when set to auto answer the phone will just ring and ring? Bitwares Bitcom program has response lights which when phone rings, RI flashes, but it wont try and pick up(waiting for call is displayed)? All programs are configured correctly to my modem as the programs all ring and connect outwards, and if I tell it to manually recieve it will(fax). Win98se, Bitcom 3.3, 256MB Ram, PIII550mhz. I have the latest modem driver. Cheers This has always troubled me. Scotty |

Two others I have installed (Same modem) have the same result. The modem will indicate on the panel that it is detecting a ring but doesn't pick up. One thing I have noticed though.... In the International settings for the modem, 'New Zealand' isn't an option that can be set. I'm bushed by this too and am going to get a real modem. :-) |

You will find HaM configuration as an applet in the Control Panel. Click on that and go to the International Settings tab. New Zealand is NOT an option in there so I tried Australia with no luck getting it to answer. Tried the USA with no luck. When I set it for the UK the modem now answers as set to the number of rings in Bitware. So.... Set yours for the UK and problem solved. I hope this helps. |
