| 17095 | 2001-08-16 11:24:00 | I have 6 years old, 2 GB HDD (Samsung) with about 2 MB of bad sectors and I think ever since then, the programs I run begin to drag (slow...) Can someone tell how to remove bad sectors from HDD? Also, 1 in every 100 times I boot the computer, I get massage 'Hard Disk Failure' after the Memory Check. Why does this happen? |

As for the speed problem, my guess would be that there are some in important parts of the disk, and working round them slows the system down, eg the FAT. The average life for a HDD is only 5 years, so yours is quite old. Consider replacing the drive. |
