| 17260 | 2001-08-20 03:08:00 | Like it says really, graphics too to an extent. Notice this in sound file (mp3, wma etc) playback, games etc. Specs CMI8738 on board sound, athlon 1133, 128mb, 30gb drive, most up to date drivers etc. Would an actual souncard help? | Guest (0) | ||
| 17261 | 2001-08-20 04:04:00 | While a real sound card will reduce the cpu useage, on such a fast process its probably not the cause. Although it may have old drivers. First thing to check would be if the HDD has DMA mode turned on. (system control panel , device manager, disk drives, NAME OF HDD, settings, dma. Restart. For MP3s in winamp (and most others) you can change the size of the buffer, you could try increasing the buffer. |
