| 17275 | 2001-08-20 08:19:00 | Hi, For the past week my computer has started to do something strange. After the POST and the audible beep, I am greeted with the 'Win98 startup menu' giving me 30 secs to decide between Normal/Safe mode/logged etc etc. As I said this occurs everytime I start the computer and all attempts to get rid of it have failed. I must have inadvertantly triggered this event somehow while mucking about. Does anyone have a suggestion for how I might fix it? | Guest (0) | ||

I went back into the system configuration utility (I'd been here before just looking around) but this time I clicked on the 'advanced' option. Sure enough I had been looking in there as well at some stage and had inadvertantly selected the box 'Enable Startup Menu' which basically bypasses the need to press CTRL during startup .....Duh! You're right it can be a dangerous area! Thanks again. |
