17452 2001-08-23 00:08:00 I have:-

PII - 350Mhz PC with 64Mb PC100 SDRAM on a gigabyte GA-6BXC motherboard which has system bus speed selectable between 66.6/100MHz.

Can I:

Add an additional RAM module 128Mb PC133 SDRAM chip to the above to make 192 Mb RAM total when the system bus is only 66.6/100Mhz

Mix SDRAM chips of different size (64 & 128)

Mix PC100 & PC133 SDRAM modules

Is the brand of SDRAM chip important. Can I mix say brand 'X' SDRAM with brand 'y' SDRAM

17453 2001-08-23 01:36:00 quick answer, yes, yes, yes and yes. u can get incompatabilites but its almost impossable to know what ram module is going to work with another. its a case of try it and see. if you have problems try swapping the ram around. worse case sernerio is install the 128 and leave out the 64. 17454 2001-08-23 01:43:00 I recently did the same with my 66Mhz board and added a 128Mb stick of PC133 SDRAM to give me 160Mb this works fine. What happens is the PC133 slows itself up and runs at your board speed. See how you go. Oh the brand shouldn't matter they are all da same spec's so should be right. Guest (0)
