17405 2001-08-22 07:44:00 Hi what is the difference between an agp graphics and an agp video card Guest (0)
17406 2001-08-22 08:36:00 I think they are the same thing, AGP stands for
accelerated graphics port, which is a big improvement over previously PCI bus based video cards.

The main advantage of an AGP graphics card is it uses the main pc memory to hold 3D images.

pci and agp graphics cards have there own memory. 'onboard graphic' often don't, they steal ram from your system. ie cheap and nasty.

don't forget there is also the agp pro slot for serious users.

17408 2001-08-22 12:02:00 AGP cards do use system memory to store textures, that is what the AGP aperature setting is in your bios.

This is because a lot of memory is needed for textures, and graphics ram is expensive.
