17427 2001-08-22 13:26:00 I own a PCCHIPS generic M748MR motherboard (PII & PIII Slot 1 compatible) I recently updated the BIOS of the motherboard but to my horror I found I had used the wrong BIOS and updated my M748MR board with the BIOS of the M748LMRT board from the same PCCHIPS comapny. Now all I see is the startup screen with a memory check and all it says is 'CHECKING NVRAM' the computer doesn't go any further into the booting process and remains like this. I am aware that I am at fault but is there anyway I can save my trusty old PII motherboard or has my TECHNO IGNORANCE doomed me to purchase a new board. Guest (0)
17428 2001-08-22 13:34:00 On the older boards you could aparantly use an EEPROM to replace the current chip, but I think newer boards don't use them.

I was just reading that if your system beeps when you turn it on it should be recoverable.
