17498	2001-08-23 11:00:00	i have an asus 12 speed dvd rom and i was trying to play a region 1 dvd and it cant play it it seys about the dvd rom locked into the region 4 only this really sux can u please help on how to play the region 1 dvd!!!!!!!?	Guest (0)

17500	2001-08-24 00:50:00	Almost all DVD drives are region locked, to watch region 1 films on your drive you need to make the drive region free. Usually this reuires you to upgrade the drives firmware (a straight forward enough procedure, yet if you do it wrong you could trash your drive). The sites listed in the post above are a good starting point, for more detailed advice try this site: perso.club-internet.fr I can't be sure exactly which model you have, but the site does say there is an ASUS 12X drive that simply needs a jumper removed to make it region free...check it out, you may strike it lucky as this is alot safer than flashing your firmware. If you aren't overly experienced with PC hardware I wouldn't recommend flashing your drive without doing ALOT of research into the procedures involved first. Make sure you know EXACTLY which model drive you have too. And if all that sounds too scary....well maybe just buy region 4 disc from now on!	Guest (0)
