1254722 2012-01-17 21:11:00 Just saw this (www.computerworld.com) linked to in Ascent's newsletter, bit of a worry. That article there only links to one other article, which links back to the first as a reference, so that's a bit random, but if it's true, that's a bit of a pain. :p

Guess it is a good way to save some money though.

1254724 2012-01-17 22:35:00 The CGA will cover joe public for more than 1 year. Just quote the manufactures "mean time between failure" to get
the CGA's reasonable expected life.

Poor old retailer/IT guy will be stuck having to pay out himself to cover the difference

1254726 2012-01-18 02:38:00 Sorry to say, but thats old news ;) Take a look at the date of the article - Ascent's newsletter, December last year.

WD now have 2 year for the standard drives, Caviar Green,CaviarBlue where the Caviar Black,VelociRaptor and enterprise drives still have 5 year warranties.

1254727 2012-01-18 02:40:00 Thanks Wainui, I've been rather out of the loop for a while. :p

Looks like we're changing to buying primarily WD drives then. :(
