Just a thought - when you retried to install the software was it completely removed first ? Only a guess But I'd say its more to do with the printer not connecting rather than than the laptops not seeing it. (if that makes any sense)

1277498 2012-05-26 11:02:00 Can you manually change the IP of the printer - the 169 in any IP means not connected, and the other basically means it cant reply at that IP.

The printers IP should be, going by that ( and i looked at mine as well) 192.168.1.2
