17737 2001-08-28 09:20:00 I revently bought a number of VCD's music CD's while in various parts of Asia. Some are in English, some are not.
They play great in a stand alone DVD player but try putting them into the CD rom of the computer, they open and play the first track and thats it, none of the icons will respond and only way to exit is ctl.alt.del. Is there a player out there that will read and play VCD's in a CD rom. Cheers.

17738 2001-08-30 01:15:00 Windows Media Player will play VCDs without a hitch. Go into Windows Explorer and have a look at the tree on the CD. You should find a folder marked 'MPEGAV', in which there should be at least one (or more) Mpeg movie files. Double clicking on them should open the file and play it under Media Player. If your PC is not configured properly and a box comes up asking you which application you would like to use to open 'Mpeg' files, scroll down until you find 'Mplayer2' and select that.
If you don't have Media Player on board, go to http://download.cnet.com and search for almost any media player that will handle Mpeg or VCDs.
