17909 2001-08-31 23:43:00 I think I maybe infected with a virus.
When I send an e-mail with attachments, outlook express will send multiple copies up to 12 or 15 of them?
I have Norton Anti-virus 2001, which is up to date and can find no virus. But when I went back through my Activity Log I have found two instance's of W95.Hybris.worm virus in windows/temp folder. Both files were deleted. But I fear not before they were activated?.
How do I get rid of it?
regards Grant

17910 2001-09-01 00:24:00 You may already have done this, but try downloading a fix tool from here:
www.symantec.com

And see if that helps. I think you are probably on the right track.
Hope it works,
Rob

17911 2001-09-02 05:53:00 Thanks Rob,
Got the remove tool, but found nothing?
Maybe I don't have it after all, but why would my e-mail be sending multiple messages, is there something that breaks down a message to smaller parts to send that I have accidently altered?
I have just senta message to my hotmail address with 2.9mg of attachments.and it is sending 1 of 30 (part 1 of 30)
any idea's Grant

This isn't pretty. Your big chunks of unreadable text are likely to be encoded lumps of the file.
Without knowing much about hybris, I would have to say it doesn't really sound like that is the problem. Especially if you can't detect or repair it. Maybe try getting a new version of that wsock32.dll (that may not be the exact file name) and copy it over the existing (make sure you've got the right version).
Have a read of this. www.symantec.com
You may agree that this doesn't really sound like the problem you have.
As to what the problem really is, it smells like a virus. How you track it down, I am not so sure.
Good luck
Rob

17914 2001-09-02 22:09:00 hi, if you are still having a problem with multiple emails try this.
In outlook express, goto tools, then accounts, select mail then select your default account. Then properties, advanced tab then check if sending is checked or not.

Hope this might help if you haven't fixed it already

That's what it was, the sending box was checked for the 60k.
