| 17902 | 2001-08-31 14:26:00 | I've been attempting to set up a simple network connection between a Gateway laptop running ME and a desktop running W98. The thing works fine but only from the desktop to the laptop and not in the other direction, The network card in the desktop works OK in a second desktop, and a 2nd network card does exactly the same. Device manager doesn't report any conflicts . I've reinstalled everything in all sorts of different orders, but can't get any improvements. Can anyone come up with any suggestions? |

Another thing that does it is firewall settings. If you have a firewall on the ME machine disable it to see then set the permissions in the local settings for the firewall if that proves to be the reason. I have regular gaming Lans at home and the only machines that cause regular problems run ME. Usually if the above 2 reasons are not present I find that removing the TCP/IP under the network properties then reinstalling it can usually fix it. |
