17899 2001-08-31 10:39:00 I have an OpticPro 4800P scanner that wouldn't work well like it was meant to, connected to the printer port and the printer plugged into it. Any way the shop I bought it off installed a seperate card for it to go through, which was a great success. The card is in ISA slot.

The problem now is that after I formatted the hard drive Windows (98SE) doesn't auto detect it. The software for the scanner just sets it up to work through the printer port LPT1.

I have tried to install the card through Add New Hardware, but with no success. I was installing it as another printer port, but it didn't become LPT 2, just Printer Port with a yellow apostrophe by it.

The people at the shop where I bought it from have since left, and the manufacturers (Plustek) won't answer my e-mail.

I'm hoping some one can help please.

Open up your comp and have a look on the card, hopefully the jumper settings on it will be well labeled. Make a note of any IRQs, IO addresses and possiably DMAs.

Then install it so it has the yellow thing beside it, then open its properties and change its resources to what the jumpers on the card are set to. Then restart.

Failing that Dick smith is selling a pci card for ~$80, its expensive but it will be much faster than the ISA one.

17901 2001-09-01 02:24:00 The trouble is I'm selling it and don't want to spend any more on it.

There doesn't seem to be any jumpers on the card or IRQ/IO addresses. It has Scan Port written on the card, is there a difference between a scanner card and a printer port card.
