| 17894 | 2001-08-31 10:35:00 | I should have known it... I delayed the inevitable and installed MS Internet Explorer (as it was needed to help another programme) and now my PC displays a brief window pop-up during start-up saying Win 95 is now setting up the following... It then appears to trash my default wallpaper and replace it with a blank one! That's all! How do I rid my poor PC of this monster???? |

If you didn't save it, or wern't given the option then you will have to do a clean reinstall of windows. I've seen IE do all sorts of horriable stuff to win95 systems. If you have to install it, get the download version rather than any customised (eg XTRA) as it will give you the option not to install the new interface which is what is killing your system. And choose the backup, you can remove the files later if you keep it. Also you will probably need to get more ram if you have less than 24mb as thats the _minumum_ requirement. Is the program that requires IE really good enough to sacrifice the preformance of the rest of your computer? |

This may cause a different wallpaper to be displayed over your original one. Go into display properties to check this out. Also it may be worth having a look at www.98lite.net. I used this program a couple of years ago to uninstall IE. |
