17799 2001-08-29 22:22:00 I got the WIN32.Magistr,24876 and the WIN32.SirCam.137216 viruses, suspiciously at the same time as the sellers of InoculateIT were extending my time to respond to their new fee system. Inoculate got rid of the Magistr virus, but couldn't fix the SirCam virus which was only shifted to the recycle bin. (I've changed the attributes and deleted it manually. Now, most programs, including Eudora and Regedit, come up with the message 'Program not found'; Windows cannot find SirC32.exe required for opening files of type 'Application'. Suggestions appreciated!

17800 2001-08-30 03:02:00 hi Paul

I had the Sircam worm and got it in the early stage so it didn't affect my system. All you should have to do is run the patch provided by symantec from this link www.sarc.com and if you did or do that and it doesn't work then sorry can't help u but see how you go.

I doubt very much if CAI had any thing at all to do with it.

17802 2001-09-04 07:28:00 I recently removed this piece of crap from a friend's machine using the anit-virus removal tool 'FixSirc.com', which can be found at the Symantec website. Follow this link: www.sarc.com

It worked very well, but after rebooting I ran McAfee Virus scan and it said that it had found and deleted two dll files that contained the SirC32.exe virus from the windows system directory, so I wonder how effective the FixSirC.com program actually is.
