18437 2001-09-08 12:48:00 I have Mcafee version 5.21, and windows ME,Internet Explorer 6 and outlook express 6. I cannot enable my Mcafee anti-virus email scan...at all....but everything else is enabled...I have no clue why it is doing this....I have tried through the wizard and options/V shield properties...but it just won't do it...any suggestions???? 18438 2001-09-08 13:32:00 It seems they don't yet support IE6, so I assume its the same for OE6.

Have a look here:

18440 2001-09-09 09:28:00 I am using the same as you Neil and have the same problems so I am looking forward to replies on this one. I understood that my emails are covered by the download scan process but may be wrong. I have also heard over the last few days that McAfee isn't a very efficient anti-virus program anyway. Any help appreciated... Guest (0)

18442 2001-09-10 13:33:00 O.k. ty 4 the advice bm..I went to an online tech at mcafee..they did say that their software does not yet support IE 6 and (I presume) OE 6 and recommended a downgrade back to 5.5. But..I spoke to a friend with the same problem but with IE 5.5 who rang network associates about enabling email scan and she was told that it is not needed if the internet filter and download scan are enabled. So I don't really know if this is a problem or not??????????? Guest (0)

Spoke with Mcafee and they said that the emial scan is only for exchange servers !!!
I asked why then was it packaged as part of an antivirus program for home use, but just got the usual'Trust us, now anything else i can help you with' (go away , in other words)
so am still in the dark.
