| 18342 | 2001-09-07 06:22:00 | Just this afternoon my computer has started autodialling as soon as Windows ME has finished loading, and I don't know how to stop it. I used MSCONFIG to see what was set to auto load, and there was a program I didn't recognise, so I used RegCleaner to remove it from startup, but everytime I restart its back there and the computer autodials (so I'm assuming this program is causing this to happen). The program is called: Bymer:Scanner and the registry key is: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run] 'Bymer.scanner'=''c:\\windows\\system\\wininit.exe '' should this be here, and if it is, what do I do to stop my comp from auto-dialling, and if its not, how do I get rid of this permanently and still stop the computer from auto-dialling. Deleting the line from the registry didn't work either. |

I started up in Diag mode (through MSCONFIG) and disabled it through there, but it still loaded anyways... eventually I managed to get in through Safe Mode and delete it out, and finally it didn't reappear. PHEW! |
