| 18477 | 2001-09-09 06:47:00 | Looked at all the post & they are not quite my need.Bought a 20GB HDD that had been loaded with W2000 (NT?)I think. want to load W98/Wme upgrade. Get message SU00013 and have looked at MS knowledge base.No good. Used endless FDisk options to clear the fat16 NTFS partition.deleted non dos partitions/reformatted etc.currently used seagate wizard to part.to 4 X 5GB but after install of windows still only see a 20GB drive in the post and an 18+Gb drive in c.panel properties. How do you get around this NTFS partition which is invisible to fdisk?? |

The manufacturer decides that a 19,750,000,000 approx byte drive is 20 GB. (But its not really.) 18 x 1024 x 1024 x 1024 = 19,327,352,832. There is your 20GB. The small difference is because Windows rounded 18.4 approx to 18. |
