18756 2001-09-13 08:08:00 i had a internal zip drive installed in my new arche computer, the drive letter was B but it acted like a floppy disk in that it copied slowly and showed up as floppy drive. then I restarted my computer and it appeared as E and worked OK next start up back to B
I am pulzzed, i have has the memory replaced under warranty and amybe all was still not fixed
I use Win Me and havs a cdrw and dvd also

18757 2001-09-13 09:12:00 You can change the drive letter that windows assigns it by going to System Control Panel, device manager tab.

Then have a look for your drive under one of the categorys (i'm not familar with zip drives) then bring up the properties on it.

Goto the settings tab, and there will be settings to reserve drive letters (just have them the same, eg E:).

If you can't change it then have a look in the BIOS (usually F1 at startup).

18758 2001-09-14 00:36:00 Our system does the same with the internal zip drive but only if we accidently leave a zip disk in the drive when rebooting. No disk and the drive remains as E but leave the disk in and it messes up all the drive letters after C. Guest (0)
