When trying to defragment my hard drive with the MS defagmentor at 10% it keeps coming up with the prompt 'Disk contents changed' and restarts. After 2 days running it was still the same. What am I doing wrong and how can I correct this? |

you probably have another program running in the background, press cntrl-alt-del once, to see what else is running and shut down everything except systray and explorer. then try running your defrag. This is presuming you are running win98. |

Try booting in Safe-Mode so that there is nothing running in background, and then run Defrag again. Also turn off any screensavers etc. |

Don't forget to disable the clock and any anti-virus program too.....the clock one is the one that caught me out all the time though. |

hi pam, the clock actual runs all the time(bios). you will find it quicker and easier to boot into safe mode or use powerdefrag (www.powerdefrag.com i think) to do it for you. nice and simple. |
